One tattoo shop in Oklahoma City that seems to have consistently positive feedback is Big Daddy’s Tattoos. Owned and operated by Eric Holzbaugh, Big Daddy’s Tattoos is extremely well known in the Oakland area and they take pride in being able to help anyone that comes through their doors. They also have a great reputation for keeping their studio clean at all times. They have a bunch of great artists who each have their own styles, so there’s a pretty good chance that they will be able to help just about anyone in the area who wants some ink.

You will find that there are a lot of highly rated tattoo shops in the Oklahoma City area, so Big Daddy’s Tattoos isn’t necessarily going to be the best one for you. You might want a specific style or you might want a specific type of environment. Whatever your needs are, you will be able to find most of the information on each shop right here on the internet. We highly recommend taking a look at what each shop is known for and then actually going to some of your favorite shops to know for sure which one you want to use when it comes time to get your tattoo.

Some people will choose where to get their tattoos by finding a highly rated shop, while others will instead focus on the top tattoo artists in the area. And there are plenty of very highly rated artists in Oklahoma City. Some of the great Oklahoma City tattoo artists include Chris Beardsley, Chris Beardsley, Curtis Fletcher, Jessica Buddin, Chad Pelland, Moe “Big Daddy” Jordan, among many others. While you can simply choose one of the best artists in the area to work on your tattoos, it’s actually better to spend some time looking through their portfolios to ensure that you end up hiring someone who is known for having the type of skills you need for your designs.

Those who live or used to live in Oklahoma City often get localized tattoos to show their love for the city. Below are just a couple of cool tattoo ideas for those who want to show that they take a lot of pride in living in Oklahoma City or being from there.

The rodeo is quite popular in Oklahoma City, so you will see quite a few rodeo tattoos and general cowboy tattoos. These types of tattoos are fun to customize because you can put your favorite horse in the design or even your favorite cowboy hat.

Thanks to Oklahoma City’s government giving the city the nickname The Big Friendly, a lot more people in the area get friendship tattoos. It’s actually a really good idea because it serves two purposes: it shows that you love your city and that you are very proud of the friendships in your life. You can even combine the two ideas by somehow including the outline of Oklahoma (or Oklahoma City) in your tattoo along with whatever type of friendship symbol you end up deciding on.

Oklahoma City History:

The original site of Oklahoma City was located in Indian Territory that Native Americans had marked as unassigned to any specific Native American group. Soon to be settlers demanded the region be opened for settlement while cattle ranchers had already begun to enter the area. Oklahoma City was born of the “Run of ‘89” and it became official in April 22, 1889 when land near Oklahoma Station started being claimed by roughly 10,000 homesteaders. Originally, a provisional town government was created at a May 1889 mass meeting, but Oklahoma City didn’t because officially incorporated until May 2, 1890 when the Oklahoma Territory was organized. The United States Post Office didn’t adopt the name of Oklahoma City until 1923 even though the name was being used by most.

Oklahoma City became a cattle and crops distribution point and in 1910, it was named the capital of Oklahoma which ended up stimulating the growth of the city. In that time, meatpacking plants were beginning to be created and then wholesale trade was growing with the arrival of more railroads. OKC is processing and chief marketing point for a giant livestock industry as well as a shipping point for cattle, wheat and cotton. All of this contributes to Oklahoma City being a major transportation center. On December 4, 1928, Oklahoma City got its first oil well and the growth continued in the city until there were around 1,400 wells within the city limits. Oil has continued to be the major economic factor in the OKC area even though the number of wells has decreased over time.

Since the 1950’s, there have been a number of annexes, and during that time, Oklahoma City has become one of the biggest cities in the United States in term of the its land area. Since the times of becoming official, the population of Oklahoma City has steadily increased and from 100,000 in 1920 and the continued growth to the 1950’s population of 300,000, OKC kept getting bigger. The European majority groups of the area have declined over time. Now, Oklahoma City has a Hispanic population of one tenth and the African American community comes to about one seventh of the population. You can also find small groups of Asians and Native Americans in the area.

OKC became the location to one of the worst terrorist attacks to be carried on in the United States when the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building was partly destroyed by a truck bomb. In this attack, more than 500 were injured in the bombing and 168 people were killed. In the 1997 attack, Timothy McVeigh was convicted and put to the death in 2001. Created in 1997, the Oklahoma City National Memorial is a place where the people murdered in the bombing can be honored forever.
