As you might expect, there are a lot of very highly respected tattoo artists in the Pittsburgh area. Some of those artists include Lu Skywalker, Michael Patrick, Sarah Miller, Jesse Churchfield, and Dmitry Vision. Those five and many more in Pittsburgh are well-known for getting the job done right and leaving their clients with tattoos that they will cherish. These are all seasoned tattoo artists in the city and they all made it to the top level by honing their skills and coming up with styles that are theirs and theirs alone.

While all of the tattoo artists above are ranked near the top of the list when it comes to tattooing skills in Pittsburgh, that doesn’t mean that you have to choose from those select few. The fact is that you want to find someone who has a style that you like and that you feel comfortable with, which might end up being a younger tattoo artist who hasn’t made a name for themselves yet or just a very underrated artist. You will want to take the time to do the research on tattoo artists in the Pittsburgh area and only then should you commit your business to them.

Instead of putting your researching work into finding an artist, you might instead want to find a high-rated tattoo shop to go to. One example of a top tattoo studio in Pittsburgh is The Pittsburgh Tattoo Studio, which offers both tattooing and piercing. Created by owners Amy Ausiello and Randy Feden, The Pittsburgh Tattoo Studio has an upscale quality to it, meaning that it is very open and all of the seating is very comfortable. Of course, what really makes them one of the top tattoo shops in the area is that they are known for getting a lot of great reviews thanks to their great artists and many different styles.

Just like with tattoo artists, you will want to take a look at as many tattoo shops in the Pittsburgh area as you can before you go in to get your design made. After all, The Pittsburgh Tattoo Studio is not going to be for everyone despite being a highly reputable studio. What you want from your shop is really up to you, but most people want them to be as clean as possible, having decent pricing, and, of course, have very good tattoo artists. If you take your time with this process and narrow your search down to two or three favorites, you will greatly increase your chances of ending up hiring a shop and artist that will make the tattoo that you were hoping for.

A lot of people who are looking to get tattoos in Pittsburgh want to get designs that can show their appreciation of the city that they love. Whether you want a tattoo that focuses on your love for the city or something completely unique, you can be sure that there are plenty of great tattoo artists in Pittsburgh who would be happy to work with you on your design.

Pittsburgh is located in southwest Pennsylvania and is the seat of Allegheny county. It is located at the convergence of the Monongahela and Allegheny rivers, which all comes together at a point called the Golden Triangle (which is the business district) to end up forming the Ohio River. Pittsburgh is a city of valleys, parks and hills, and is a hub of industrial innovation that is surrounded by New Kensington, Washington, Aliquippa, the borough of Wilkinsburg and McKeesport southeast of Pittsburgh.

History of Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh has a rich history. The Iroquoian and Algonquian speaking folks were some of the first people to inhabit the region. There was conflict between the French and British over claims of the territory. In 1758, the area was settled when the British and colonial army of General John Forbes removed the French from Fort Duquesne. The site was named after the British statesman William Pitt the Elder by Forbes. Fort Pitt was constructed by the British to confirm their grip on the source of the Ohio River. The people started to arrive after chief Pontiac and his group of Ottawa Native American forces were defeated in the year 1763. At this point, there was an agreement made between the Penn family and the Native American groups. At this point, Virginia and Pennsylvania cleared up their dispute. John Campbell laid out Pittsburgh in 1764 around the current Golden Triangle but at the time, it was the fort. After the American Revolution, the town became a place to stop for travelers heading west on the Ohio River.

The location of Pittsburgh was chosen because of the wealth of natural resources which started the industrial and commercial growth during the 19th century. George Anschutz built a blast furnace in 1792 which made it the forerunner of the steel and iron industry which was the main point of economic growth for Pittsburgh for more than a century. By 1850, Pittsburgh was dubbed the Iron City. The Portage Railroad and the Pennsylvania Canal were finished in 1834 and they opened important markets for shipping and trade. In 1845, the city experienced a big loss when a fire destroyed 24 blocks of homes, churches and businesses.

There were a great deal of European immigrants flowing into Pittsburgh after the American Civil War and steel empires were constructed by industrial giants like Henry Clay Frick, Thomas Mellon and Andrew Carnegie. Pittsburgh ended up becoming the center of historic friction between management and labor, and after that, the American Federation of Labor was created in the year 1881.

The city’s population had reached over 300,000 by 1900. Through World War II, the growth of Pittsburgh was growing at a fast clip and the years during the war was creating even more of a boom for Pittsburgh. By 1950, the population had reached 675,000, but after that, the population started to drop and by the end of that century, the population had settled back into the population of 1900. Most of the people that still lived in Pittsburgh were European but African Americans grew to over a quarter of the population. And during the time of population and economic growth, the city had become a city that was characterized by a polluted and grimy city. On the other hand, the city was extensively redeveloped after the war and a big part of that was an emphasis on cleaning up the sewage disposal, smoke pollution control and flood prevention. Pittsburgh was the first city in the states to use nuclear power to generate electricity in 1957.

Pittsburgh: The Contemporary City

By the end of the 1970’s and the early parts of the 1980’s, the industry of steel had all but disappeared and this was a result of decreased demand and foreign competition. The mill towns that surrounded Pittsburgh were full of unemployment and therefore, these areas were laid to waste. On the other side, Pittsburgh had an extremely diverse economy by way of the light industries. While chemicals, plastics and metalworking were still important industries, the industries of biomedical and environmental technologies, industrial automation, computer software and other high tech industries were starting to become a big part of the local economy. In addition, there were many industrial research laboratories established in Pittsburgh and at that point, the service sector became even more important. As far as inland ports go, Pittsburgh been one of the nations biggest and it is still a leading transportation hub.

Much of the area around the Golden Triangle has been reconstructed and it includes Point State Park, the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, Mellon Arena and the Gateway Center which is the home of a garden and many skyscrapers.

When it comes to cultural sophistication, Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh is central to the area. It’s an umbrella organization comprised of many other institutions. Pittsburgh’s museums included the Carnegie Science Center, founded in 1991, the Planetarium and Observatory, the fine arts and natural history museum and the Andy Warhol Museum of 1994 which is a place to see the many exhibits of the filmmaker and artist born in Pittsburgh. The other institutions connected with the organization are the Carnegie Music Hall, the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra that performs at Heinz Hall.

You can find extensive greenhouses at the Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens and it spans over 2.5 acres. The Pittsburgh zoo is located northeast of downtown in the Highland Park neighborhood and also has an aquarium.

Pittsburgh is also a huge sports town and has two venues for professional sports. The first one is the home of the Pittsburgh Pirates and named PNC Park and the other location is called Heinz Field and home to the Pittsburgh Steelers, a team in the National Football League.

Pittsburgh is an amazing city with many things to do so if you and your family are looking for a place to visit with a great deal of history and fun things to do with the family, Pittsburgh is your place.
